Notice of 2020 AP Exam Changes Due to COVID-19

The College Board and the Korean-American Education Commission (KAEC) are prioritizing the health and safety of students as COVID-19 continues to spread in schools and communities.

Accordingly, the 2020 AP Exams will be administered online instead of in-person. Students who have already registered for AP exams and provided their information will be automatically transitioned to the online format without any additional action required. Students will take the exams at home using a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

With the transition to online exams, there are also changes to the exam schedule. Students will take their exams according to the revised May schedule announced for each subject. The June AP Make-up Exams will be offered for students who were unable to take the May exams due to technical issues or other difficulties. In addition, for security reasons, exams must be administered simultaneously worldwide, which means that in South Korea, the exams will take place in the early hours of the following day.

Due to COVID-19, the situation regarding exam administration may continue to change. Therefore, students and parents are advised to regularly check the College Board website and KAEC announcements. In particular, students should make sure to review detailed information about the content and question types for each subject.

Students who do not wish to take the exam due to changes in format and schedule may request a full refund of their exam fees. Refund requests should be submitted by April 15 through AP Inquiries → Cancel AP Exam (Refund). Requests submitted after this date cannot be processed.

Furthermore, due to the transition to online exams, no additional AP exam registrations will be accepted.

We sincerely wish all students good health, and we hope that, despite these challenging circumstances, you will prepare calmly and achieve excellent results.
