AP Precalculus is designed to help students build a strong mathematical foundation prior to college enrollment and to encourage continued engagement in mathematics learning. The course aims to provide structured preparation for students pursuing college-level mathematics.
In particular, the course supports students planning to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) majors by strengthening essential mathematical skills. It is also expected to benefit students considering non-STEM fields by helping them meet college mathematics requirements.
Students interested in STEM majors or careers can establish a solid mathematical foundation through AP Precalculus, helping them prepare for college-level mathematics courses.
Taking AP Precalculus prior to upper-grade coursework can support stronger academic performance in advanced mathematics courses such as AP Calculus and other higher-level math subjects.
AP Precalculus scores may be used to fulfill minimum college mathematics credit requirements, allowing students to devote more time to major courses or other academic interests.
The Korean-American Educational Commission (KAEC) will support AP Precalculus exam administration beginning in 2024.
The 2024 AP Precalculus exam schedule is as follows:
Regular Testing: May 13, 2024 (Monday), 12:00 PM
Late Testing: May 23, 2024 (Thursday), 8:00 AM
(For students unable to attend the regular testing date)
Students wishing to register for the AP Precalculus exam should refer to the KAEC AP Exam Registration page and select AP Precalculus during the registration process.
