Required Preparations for AP Exam Candidates Registered at AP Test Centers

College tuition in the United States is widely known to be significantly higher than in many other countries.
According to the Education Data Initiative, as of June 2023, the average annual cost of tuition and living expenses at a four-year U.S. college reaches approximately $36,436 per student.
For students concerned about rising college expenses, earning college credits in advance through the CLEP® (College-Level Examination Program) can be an effective option. By submitting CLEP exam scores to participating institutions, students may receive college credit for specific subjects, helping reduce tuition costs and potentially shorten time to graduation.
Because credit policies and minimum passing scores vary by institution, students are strongly encouraged to review their prospective universities’ CLEP credit recognition policies using the College Credit Policy Search tool before preparing for the exam.

Modern States Education Alliance™, a nonprofit organization headquartered in New York, provides free online CLEP courses taught by university professors. Students who successfully complete the coursework may also receive financial support covering CLEP exam fees.
Students may prepare for the CLEP exam through Modern States by following these steps:
Create a Modern States account and enroll in a free course
Complete all lectures and practice assignments
Apply for a CLEP exam voucher through the Modern States website
Register for the CLEP exam using the voucher code to receive exam fee support
Contact a nearby test center to schedule the exam appointment
The Korean-American Educational Commission (KAEC), located in Seoul, is an official CLEP test center administering CLEP exams approximately two to three times per month.
