Through AP exam scores, students may earn college credit or gain placement into higher-level courses by skipping introductory classes.
College Credit
By receiving college credit for AP scores, students may graduate earlier and reduce tuition costs.
A bachelor’s degree typically requires approximately 120 credits, and many colleges and universities grant credit for qualifying AP exam scores.
Advanced Placement
AP scores may allow students to bypass certain introductory courses and enroll directly in more advanced classes.
Students are encouraged to search their prospective colleges and review each institution’s AP credit or placement policies in advance.
Since AP score submission deadlines vary by institution, keeping track of deadlines beforehand is recommended.
AP scores are released on a rolling basis beginning July 8.
Each year students take AP Exams, they may designate one institution (college, university system, or scholarship organization) to receive their scores free of charge.
Free score send deadline: June 20
Score reports include AP exam scores from both the current and previous years.
